In 2017/18 we made grants to assist with undergraduate and postgraduate course fees and living expenses, attending international events, legal publications and research, dramatic reconstructions, and for a series of public seminars.

Awards made in 2017/18 include the following:

Telders International Moot Court Competition

The Foundation helped fund the attendance of a team of students from The University of Dundee to represent Scotland in the finals of the Telders International Moot Court Competition in The Hague. More

Sir Gerald Gordon Seminar in Criminal Law

The Foundation contributed towards the cost of hosting the 10th annual Sir Gerald Gordon Seminar in Criminal Law at The University of Glasgow. The award allowed the event to be hosted free of charge to delegates. More

International Law Week

The Foundation made an award to Abertay University to enable students to participate in International Law Week 2018, organised by the University College UC Leuven-Limberg in Belgium. More

Amateur Actors

The Foundation made an award to Dundee Law School to fund the involvement of amateur actors in a level 3 and 4 optional module, Law in Practice. More

Brexit and Human Rights in Scots Law Seminar Series

The Foundation supported JustRight Scotland in running a series of four public seminars, free of charge, on the topic of Brexit and its significance on four key areas of law – employment law, migration, gender and children’s rights. More

European Private Law Summer School, Salzburg

The Foundation helped fund the attendance of a number of University of Edinburgh students at the European Private Law Summer School in Salzburg.  The Summer School lasted for 2 weeks during which the students attended classes and workshops. More

Jus Feudale

The Foundation helped Dr Leslie Dodd with the production of an English translation of Book 2 of Thomas Craig’s Jus Feudale. More

Lord Rodger Memorial Lecture

The Foundation supported the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow in holding the Lord Rodger Memorial Lecture. More

Shelter Scotland Housing Law Service

The Foundation made an award to Shelter Scotland to assist with expanding the knowledge of housing law of solicitors and lay representatives within the Shelter Housing Law Service (SHLS). More

Supporting Under Graduate and Post Graduate Students

In addition to other awards, the Foundation supported a number of students both at undergraduate level (LLB, DIPLP) and at postgraduate level (LLM, PhD) to enable them to study and research Scots law. More
