In 2020/21 we made grants to assist with undergraduate and postgraduate course fees and living expenses, attending international events, legal publications and research, dramatic reconstructions, and for a series of public seminars.

Awards made in 2020/21 include the following:

International Law Week

The Foundation made an award to Abertay University to enable students to participate in International Law Week 2021, organised by the University College UC Leuven-Limberg in Belgium. More

Mini-Trials Initiative

The Foundation awarded a grant to the Mini-Trials Initiative. The Initiative, which commenced in 2002, promotes legal education in schools by conducting mock trials where pupils play all parts. More

Shelter Scotland

The Foundation supported the continuing professional development of solicitors working within Shelter Scotland’s Law Service. More

Gerald Gordon Seminar in Criminal Law

The Clark Foundation made an award towards the cost of hosting the 12th annual Gerald Gordon Seminar in Criminal Law in June 2020. More

European Private Law Summer School, Salzburg

The Foundation helped fund the attendance of 5 University of Edinburgh students at the Salzburg Summer School Event. More

SYLA Ethics Conference

The Foundation provided funding to The Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association (SYLA) to host a conference on ethics held over three virtual sessions in January and February 2021. More

Supporting Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students

In addition to the above, the Foundation supported a number of students both at undergraduate level (LLB, DIPLP) and at postgraduate level (LLM, PhD) to enable them to study and research Scots law. More
